My 2001 Eclipse GT ( auto) has over 85k miles and has been running fine up until now. I recently realized that when I come to a stop my cars revs go up and down, somtimes to the point where the car will shut down. Could it be bad fuel injectors or somthing more serious?...anyone else experience this problem?......one more thing, when i turn on the air conditioning the cars revs drop even more.....to the point where it dies down as well.

Does the car run rough? That may be something with the ignition system not working properly. It could be a fuel issue as well like bad injectors or a plugged fuel filter. Chances are you Idle Air Control Valve is bad and is causing the car to idle improperly. I would check that before anything else.

I'd think its the IAC. Have you changed your plugs yet?

have you recently disconected your battery? If so, wait a few days and it should fix itself. As for the AC, yes your car will either loose rpm or gain rpm depending on certain conditions. This is because the AC belt takes a lot of power to turn, so the motor either under/over compensates for it and your revs change.

6 days late.. but what it could be.. if your stock..

1.check your car for any vac leaks... or if any of the vac lines are cracked/leaking or loose.

2. there like someone above it could be your IAC check it out.

3. carbon build up in either the MAF or TB you MAY have to clean it out.

4. have you changed you plugs lately?
