If it does have 155 hp, then holy crap its aging quick man. Those engines were monsters. But i think they have somewhere along 280 and up. I would have to look it up, but they got tons more than just 155. Hell my civic has 115 stock :).

yeah 155 hp is just about right. You have to remember that fuel injection is a lot more effeicent than carbs. Also the factory Rochester Carb on that year really sucked. Trust me that engine has alot of potential to make big horsepower.
By the way 280 hp is on the newer 350's in the LT LS series motors.
If you get that car replace the carb throw on some exhaust and headers and port and polish the heads and you'll be in the high 200 hp range at thta point.

74-92 are the dark years for F-bodys and HP numbers in general. Some will agrue that the L98 brought back HP and TQ in the late 80's early 90's, but the LT1 in the '92-'96 Vettes and '93-'97 F-body are the real saviors of power. :D

That horse power rating of 155 at 4000 Rpm's would be the 350 2-v, having the M-engine code. You say it has the 4-V, Was that added or was the engine replaced with the j-code which would be 175 at 4400 RPM's. Either way the dished pistons and smog heads is what killed these engines, so better flowing heads and a little more compression, better intake, carb and headers you've just added (conservative) 125 hp. Thats something you'll feel in the seat. Good Luck.:flash:
