Who's done a coil pack/Ign. module changeout on a '96??

'96 Sunfires and Cavaliers are pretty much identical, so I'll ask if anybody has done this on a '95 to '97 model.

I have a '96 Sunfire (my daughter's car) that has a tendency to quit running whenever it feels like it, mostly when it's warm, and a lot of times when it's wet. I've changed the EGR, TPS, IAC, and fuel pump plus I disconnected the OD on the auto tranny and the sucker still quits intermittantly. I believe it's the coils or ign. module because the car fires right back up on most occassions, and other times it needs to sit a minimum 5 minutes to cool down.

Now on the '96, the coil pack and ignition module is on the back of the block, under the fuel rails and intake manifold. I can't get at them.
How do you change those things?

You must be referring to a 2.2?
Not my expertise, but a helpful tip: change the fuel filter - I kow it seems goofy, but it just might fix it and definitely won't hurt. It's what ended up being the prob on my 2.4 after chasing it down with numerous "logical" part swaps.

Yes, it's a 2.2L, and I did replace the filter when I replaced the pump.

I removed the intake on my wife's '95 2.2 to get to the coil packs. Kind of a pain, but I just could not get my arm in there. Not too bad of a job if you have a 1/4" drive air ratchet.
