Group Build: Lotus Super 7

I figured that since today was supposed to be the original due date for the Super 7 Group Build, it would be a perfect day to start my build thread!

I think I can have it finished by the new due date. I’m building the kit as the Cosworth powered Series II- the box stock version. I have a thing for old classic Filbies (for FLBs, or Fragile Little British cars)- MGs, Jags, Minis, and of course Lotuses. I’d thought of tampering with the engine, but then decided this one is perfect the way it is. But I’m certainly going to add some detailing, so it won’t be a straight out of the box build.

I think everyone has seen what the kit looks like on the sprues by now, so here’s what mine looks like painted.

I’m using CobraColors British Racing Green. I miss CobraColors - this stuff is (was) terrific!

The color is a dark BRG (since there appearently is no real 'official' BRG). I think Leon had it mixed for 60's Jags, but I think it looks perfect for the 7 from references I've seen. I too have been watching The Prisoner lately, and to me this looks spot on. The interior (obviously) is going to be done in red, and I've already painted the sidewalls.

I’m still cleaning and detailing the chassis, and I decided to do the underside in matte aluminum BMF- what could be better for an aluminum car?

The engine bay will also get BMFed.

And speaking of which, here’s a view of things to come!

Some other members here have been kind enough to provide some aluminum parts, so I’m going to have fun detailing this one!

Looks top notch. Frame it right in a picture, I don't think I could tell you the real bottom from your model version!

 :p

Amazing paint job, m'am! and great cylinder head, too.

Personally, I think your bottom looks better than a model's

Aren't we supposed to see both in order for us to make an informed decision :grinyes:

Great paint. I too miss Leon, great stuff. What have you used on the interior? It looks great.
