'96 Passat TDI: fuel lines keep breaking

Fuel lines keep breaking on my '96 Passat TDI. Goes about 50-100 highway miles before one of the lines snaps. It's happened 5 times now -- once to each of the lines, plus twice to #3 line. It snaps clean off.
Car has 120k miles, but engine was re-built last year. (badly perhaps?)
Have had shop that re-built plus two others take a look, so I guess it's nothing obvious.
Figure next step is to replace the (original) engine mounts, but any other ideas?
