so i got in my car today and noticed my high beam indicator on my heads up flickering on my 98 GTP and my indicator on my dash is on really dim. My low beams work fine... but when i flip to high beams... nothing but my parking lights turn on. No headlights... WTF?

Check the headlight lamp sockets and electrical connector to make there is no corrosion and the connections are tight. Another possible cause is the multifunction switch (MFS-Stalk) has bad contacts. What does it do with the foglights on and switching on hi-beams?

when i turn it on high beam... no foglights work... however a few weeks ago when my highs did work... a lot of times my fog lights would stay on... the light on my fog light switch, however, would turn off

I was just confirming where the problem might be by narrowing it down. In normal operation the fog lights are supposed to turn off when the high beams are on. Safety feature and the fog light relay is de-energized as soon as high beams are on. Looking at that part of the circuit in the wiring diagram and the common areas it looks like the MFS is most likely the culprit. Common problem since there is no low/hi-beam relay in the circuit for protection.

Here is a pic of the one I replaced about 4 months ago. Same problem. No hi-beams. About a 1 hour job DIY to replace.

man that sucks if it is the MFS... i just replaced that with a used one from Morad... My old one, the hazards would not pop up and my cruise didnt work... then i replaced it with his used one and my hazards worked... but still no cruise... where can i get a reliable MFS used because im not about to pay 250 for a new one.

Yeah, I know that is one of the problems you run into with used and/or pull parts and new ones especially GM/AC Delco are expensive. I would send an email to Ed and let him know to see about getting it replaced. He is liberal on his exchange policy. Just tell him that Bob the Grand Prix Moderator from Automotive Forums helped you troubleshoot the problem and it looks like the used one from him had a problem.

Your other option is a few guys on EBay sell new aftermarket MFS for around $120-$130. Do a search for the switch and Grand Prix. Good luck!
