2002 Taurus wagon-Check engine codes

Hey I got a 2002 wagon with a 3.0...The check engine light came on..I got code PO171-System too lean (bank1) and code PO175 System too rich (bank 2)....I also took it on a long trip and shut it off and tried to restart it...and and it would'nt start..It cranked over but nothing..I let it set for a while and it fired right up and ran fine ever since...I am thinking the fuel pump was acting up...Would the fuel pump cause these codes...or are they totally un related?...HELP!!!!!!!!!:eek7:
