98 gsx squeek when downshift

so i have a 98 gsx... Bought 4000 miles ago. 115000 miles on it now. In those 4000 miles i have replaced sooo many parts including a clutch, starter, belts gaskets. ect. But my new issue is when i downshift to slow down not to pass, there is a squeek coming out of my car. almost like a whistle. i have no idea what it is. When i back my car up it sounds like the drive shaft might be squeeking a little bit also dont know if these problems are related... SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP this car is becoming a money pit

Ha ha... well man, DSM's are known for eating money. However, I dont think your problem is a problem at all. Sounds to my like its your BOV dumping. If its louder its possible that the dump tube came off and is venting to atmosphere, but nothing bad can really happen from that.

Also may be just a little boost leak. Something may not be clamped down 100% or even may have a small pin-sized hole somewhere. But check the BOV first.

I thrink its your fuel rail, time to change the fuel rail filter, your getting back wash..

i got a chance to really listen to it today backing up and downshifting with the door open sounds like its coming from center of car...
MAYBe the drive shaft?? im going to get it onto a lift this weekend and try to spot the noise thanks for the replys

you have what's called the "dsm squeal" at least in some circles. It is totally normal, our cars are old, they will make noises. It's nothing to worry about. If it only squeaks when you are downshifting, then be happy, because you can be 100% sure you are driving a real dsm ;)
