I need to change out the drivers side door mirror on my 2001 Grand Prix and I do not know how to do it! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this without breaking anything? Picture guide? Step by step? Please help and thank you~

I have a 2000 GP and recently (about 6 months ago) had to take the door panel off on that side and if I recall that once you get the door panel off, there is a triangular plastic cover that covers the bolts to the mirror. Take that cover off and remove said bolts, mirror should just pop off the door. Taking off the door panel is fairly simple. There are a few screws that hold the internal door handle cover on and may be one or two in the door pocket. (Been a while since I last looked) Then there are door panel clips around the outside edge of the panel(under the panel itself). Carefully pull on the panel edge near the clip and it should release. Once you get one off, you'll be able to look between the panel and door and see what the clip looks like. ANyway, if you break one or two, they are sold at most auto parts stores (at least the universal type) or you can buy OEM for about $8. Putting everything together is just the opposite. Good Luck. Getting a repair manual for the car is a good first step too. :)

I have a 2000 Grand Prix and hit a deer last Oct. which destroyed the mirror. They replaced it with a used one but the mirror was cloudy. I told them to check to see if they could just replace the glass part. It turns out they could. They just popped the old one out and snapped the new one in it's place. I didn't see them do it but it has to be similar to the one I did myself on my old Park Avenue. If the power part still works right and the glass just needs replacement, just go to your Pontiac dealer and buy the mirror and pop it in.
