I hit the junkyard and thought I had found something spectacular--a great practical and aesthetic mod for my 92 lesabre...a center console that could not only close, but had dual cupholders and was leather.
So I proceeded to scrap it....problem is my partner in salvaging 'crime' flipped the cupholder in and shut it, and now neither of us can open the piece of junk....when you open it, the side (when mounted) next to the driver's right arm is stuck, but the passenger's arm side moves freely, though that does no good with the drivers side stuck down.
Does this seem to be a common problem?? I know that when I got the car there was another case in the trunk, which was also stuck shut, so it has at least happened once before.
**The non-leather non cupholdered one I snagged does work flawlessly, so if I can't open the leather one (any ideas?) I can bust it open and transfer the cupholder, though that would kill my leather console aspirations.
Either way, I'm so close to having freaking cupholders....they're right under my freaking nose!

Well, I solved the problem....kinda.
I decided it was time to assert my authority over the case, so I (after trying gentler persuasion) popped it with a screwdriver, and extracted the long sought after cupholders.
Just for fun, I decided to reclose the case, and it stuck shut, so it's going into the junk pile.
Oh well, I lost a battle, but I won the war.
(I'm not paying 18 bucks on ebay for a freaking cupholder!)

I despise the cupholders these cars were equipped with! Cheap plastic, and 3/4 of the time that you actually may find one, they don't adjust properly for different sized cups (broken internals). I got a manually adjustable cupholder from autozone and bolted it directly to my armrest. It's black like the factory cupholders, and actually looks pretty good, in my opinion. That enables me to store more stuff in the armrest, too:D
