I now own my first car and it is a 1991 Taurus..I made a mistake today and I need help with a question..What happens if you put transmission fluid in your oil tank..Note, I did not read the bottle correctly and when I realized what it was I stopped pouring it in..I put less than a half of the bottle in..So someone please help me..I hope I did not just kill my car:confused: :frown:

It has been happening for a while I got the car from my brother so..He thinks that it is the oil pump but I don't have a bloody clue..It will shudder if it is hot or clod it does not really matter..

There could be other things besides the oil pump. Sounds like maybe the torque converter in the transmission is trying to lock up at idle and killing the engine. Is there any noise associated with the shudder and stalling? Such as engine knocking, loud rattles or other different noises? If not, the engine is probably not the cause of your problem. Let us know and we can research a little more and give you a better answer.

Lucas tranny additive claims to stop shudders and we've had people here try it and it worked. If the converter is trying to lock up it might "free it up."

http://www.lucasoil.com/ Should be able to find it at many auto parts stores.
If the tranny fluid hasn't been changed in a long time that would probably be the best thing to do cost about $60.00 with a new filter. if you go that way, ask them to add the Lucas when they change the fluid.
