one bored night...

I was bored and wandering online so I ended up buying a throttle body spacer, there were two types I found, one was a threaded looking design and one had verticle veins.. 3sx sells the type with the threads so i went with that.

anyway< it was an easy install because i had just done my plugs and wires so i remembered my way around, but it took a little time to get the throttle cable right again.

Anyway, I cant say for sure on power becasue i havent dynoed or anything, but it doesnt seeem like a hp gain, but possibly widened the band somewhat, but I am happy to say that my mpg has gone from around 19-21 to 23-24.9 havent broken 25 yet, but this is all on my reg driving, moslty stop and go to and from work/school... anyway, pretty cool, with gas prices, just wondering if others have had the same results?

glad you noticed it. spacers don't provide hp gains, but rather move the peak torque lower in the rpm band.

Yeah, its easy to trick yourself into feeling a gain, still, for the $50 bucks and half hour install, it seems worthwhile just for the better gas mileage, its been on for a month with consistant gain in mpg, now I just want to save up for 3sx long headers, and maybye a lightweight pulley.

so you really think the spacer gave you an increase in mpg? heck, for $50, i'll try it. where online did you get it?

the 3SX lightweight pulley is on sale right now ($100 down from $140), but the headers will always be expensive.

Im at about 160,000miles right now, so Ill prob get the pulley and do a 60k at the same time. hope its not too much for me though, but stealth 316 here I come! hahaah

i assume you meant 160,000 miles?

pulley install is easy. jack up driver side front tire, remove tire, remove plastic covering belts. loosen tension on AC and pwr steering belts. remove belts. remove crank pulley with "bump start" method or impact gun. install new pulley, re-install belts.

you're right, if your doing the 60k/120k tune up, perfect time to replace the crank pulley with a lighter one.
