Lt1 Engine Removal?

Okay how hard is it to remove a lt1 engine from a 1995 camaro z28? The car got hit in the front so i'm selling the engine? I've heard you have to pull it from the bottom? Or would it be easier removing the fenders and front end ?

yeah the bottom removal is easy if u have a lift...... removing the front nose clip is the bomb....my boy did that on his 99ss when he built his engine.... i also seen ford do that when installing a pro charger on the new gt mustang the week before they released them....everything looks so damn easy without the nose clip on the car! anyway, u will be having a real good time!! get alot of beer, and a good friend and sum band aids...u will be bleeding and cussen u a storm!!

They don't have to be removed from the bottom.

I pulled and put back in, a lt1 with tranny attached, through the top. Someone sells a product called a "Happy hooker" or something like that which is supposed to make it easier to pull the engine because it has to be rotated as its coming out. I didn't have one and it came out alright.

I had 3 guys working to pull it out. I had one guy working the cherry picker the entire time and me and my dad were rotating the engine as it came out. You have to kind of pick it up and drop it back down and adjust the chain until the engine is in a position where it will come out.

Might as well just take the front clip off in your case though, I think.

taking body panels off won't do anything, you'll still be boxed in by the radiator support, frame rails and fender rails.

No, I'm just saying hack that baby up if it can't be salvaged and save alot of time with items especially like Savage metnioned, the core support, etc..
