I need to get a turbo timer, and I want to get remote start/keyless entry for my car too... anyone want to recommend any good names? I found this one what do you think?

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6107.html

• 4-channel remote start* / keyless entry* system with 2 auxiliary channels for optional remote control conveniences*
• Two new-style miniature 4-button remotes with (*) one button start
• Turbo timer and defroster activation output built-in

Actually... thats the exact same one thats in my cav. I don't have automatic locks, but the remote start system worked well when i use to drive it in the winter, and the alarm would go off with vibrations and if there was a power draw anywhere in the car. As for the turbo timer, we have a small little one by Apexi. Looks pretty still in its box. We've just manually let the car idle for a min or so before we shut it down.

wow, okay good. Thanks Cody.

the auto locks, do you need to have the actuators for it to work? Cuz I bought a power windows convert kit and it had door actuators in it, with a little 2 button remote.... you think if I got the actuators installed then the new remote start remotes would work with it?

this is the one i have and it has an adjustable turbo timer that can fun for 1,3,5 or 10 minutes. and you can most likely get the door locks to work, along with trunk release if you have one. and it has a cool LED light that you can mount on the dash or where ever you want to stear theifs away. another neat thing it has is an anti grind function so when you get into your car and put the key in you cant make it grind if you forget and turn the key too far.

and why do you need to let the turbo run after you stop? im a noob at this turbo stuff.

if you shut it off too soon then the turbo stuff won't cool down and could cause damage... not sure exactly what but I know it needs to run at idle so that it won't be under boost and so the oil can flow freely through it and cool the bearings down...

oh, that makes sense. all i know is i have the ability to do this on mine and i had no clue why it was important

yeah I have the hyperwhites running where the low beams are... neat eh? the normal lights in there suck cuz they're yellow and you have white leds on the side and bright white halos... so might as well get all the same color... go ahead ask me how I did it, lol...

you will need...

a drill
a big drill bit
a screwdriver
a hammer
some bandaids, lol

I drilled the hole bigger and bashed the little pieces I couldn't get out with a combo screwdriver prying them up and hammer with screwdriver bashing them down... now a regular 9006 light fits into it, instead of that stupid flat yellow light... granted I still had to silicone the light harness into it (because it's not a 3-point turning mechanism) but it's still cool !!! lol

so I changed my injectors to the ford brown tops... whoever said they clip right in was right, clipped Right In... awesome!!! only one small problem... I popped a clip off, and when I did it went flying...and fell into my engine/belt area...and I have no idea where it is... so I'm missing one metal clip that keeps the injector clipped to the fuel rail... and I went to advance auto zone looking for one and the closest thing I could find was hair pins.... lol, those aren't going to work... any ideas?

Classicrocjunkie

I told you about them... ;p

... I wish you told me you lost a clip, i was at the pick n pull tonight tearing into a j-body. I could have snagged one for ya and just put it in my pocket. I think i could have afford 39 cents and mailed it to ya.. LOL.. But yea, thats a high pressure system and i don't want to tell you to jimmy rig it because it might fail.

I need to get a turbo timer

No you dont...you may think you need to but the turbo you have is small enough where it will stop spinning almost immediately. Turbo timers are used mainly on cars with larger turbos that, due to their greater rotating mass, take longer to spool down....if you just let your car idle for 15 seconds before shutting it off, you're fine. That's what i did and it worked fine....

Derk_eliso

I was thinking that, but didn't want to make you guys think I was a cheap skate, lol. I'll probably let it idle for like a minute or so unless I really ran they hell out of it, lol

Schister66

During normal driving, just let it idle for 15 seconds or so and if you just beat the hell out of it, maybe give it a minute...
