Bought my 97 GMC in 2001 it Had 104,000 miles on it . Have not Had to Many problems with it that I could not Handle .

THe only thing That Has Got Me stumped is the Water Pump. Had to Change it in 2004 when i noticed the Weep hole leakin Fluid . At the Same time I Changed the thermaStat. Well Since then I have Reseated that Water Pump 4 times and Changed the thermasat Back to what was in it when I changed it. After 2 days with the New Water Pump I noticed a Puddle under my truck . I lifted the Hood and it was leaking from around the Water Pump . Since that First time I have done it 3 more times .and Now that Water Pump Is Dead . all I can figure out is that the Water Pump I bought was Not "true" .
Is there a way to tell if the Next one i get Is true Before Going through All that again ?

I just did a Normal tune up on my truck and changed the Thermastat back to a 180" degree , Book calls for a 195" degree . with the 195 in it My temp never Opened till around 210" degrees or Higher Sometimes , And Took Forever to Heat up . with the 180" degree in , It never goes Above 200" and heats up in like 5 minutes.

What brand of water pump are you buying (where are you buying them)? Where have all of the water pumps been leaking from? As far as the heating up real fast, if you water pump is not working then it is not pushing the coolant through the radiator there for not cooling it.

I cant remember the Make of the Water Pump , I bought it from VIP . Is A Lifetime warranty Water Pump . From what I could tell it has been Leaking from Around were it is supposed to sit flush with the Moter . To best describe it , there are 2 ports on the water pump from what I can undertand , 1 is intake and 1 is return . The coolant was leaking from around the Ports , All 4 times that it was Reseated .

If you are talking about the small ports were you hook up the heater hoses, if they are treaded, take them out and put some pipe dope on them. If you don't know what pipe dope is then got to a part store that has smart counter people and ask them they should know what you are talking about.

Well I went ot the Parts store , And Got my New Water Pump , Did not getthis New post till after I went there , I got My new Water Pump . Installed it and from what I am seeing , It is working Correctly this time , No Seeping or Weeping Or Leeking . Only used the gaskets that Came with it . So I musta Done something right .

When I Installed that last waterpump It Leeked from Day one. and I used what They call Indian Shalak . Thats what My brother called it anyway. He was thrown fow a Loop when I told him it was still leeking after he put that stuff on.

The gasket salack is used to stick the gaskets to the surface. It is not designed to be a sealant. I am glad to hear that you got it to stop leaking.
