All he said was that he was replacing it... Did you guys ever give the thought that maybe it IS broke and thats why he is replacing it?...

If its a manual then I would consider doing the clutch as well while its all apart, along with the throw-out bearing. If its an automatic I would change the tranny filter and such, just to freshin things up a bit.

I agree you should definatly do throw out bearing, and I would also check the clutch disk. Those are 2 things that you might as well replace now while it is out. It sucks having to pull the tranny for a $25 part....
