my drivers side rear brake on my 1996 explorer xlt is making a high pitched squeal when i drive...either the brake or wheel...somthing back there

as soon as i apply the brake it goes away, but when i release....its back.

i dont want to give any ideas to the problem by saying this but......i was in the snow in 2wd and while the tires were spinning i caught ground and the wheels stopped.

but that was like 3 weeks b4 any problems...thats the ONLY thing i can think of...any ideas?
cracked brake pads?

Thanks guys

I doubt that your problem is due to the sudden stop. I would suspect either a small rock that is stuck between you pad and the disc, If your rig has disc brakes in the rear, or your wear warning is making the noise. Best set is to take the caliper off and check.

Most likely a rock stuck between your brake pads and your rotor, all you gotta do is just clean the rotor real good with some brake parts cleaner and check the pads and rotor to see if there is any damage
