02 Blazer Power Window.....

Jock36

I have a 02 Blazer 4 door.... The drivers side window stopped working. When I press the button to open the window it makes a clicking sound by the buttons. The other 3 widows work fine.

Any suggestions....

Welcome on your first post on AF.
Can you hear the motor run or just a one click?
Is the click in the door?
Or under dash?
If window motor runs it is usually striped motor gear.
If motor does not run pull switch panel and check for motor power switching from that door switch.
The switch will reverse power to ground and hot for window up or down.

I removed the switch box off of the door panel, when I press the drivers side button I can hear a repeated clicking sound in the switch box. I do not hear the window motor at all.

It is a repeated clicking sound in the switch panel

Is the switch switching power and ground to the window motor?
Remember the switch reverses power and ground for up and down.

How do I check for that? How do I fix that if that is the problem?

Thanks for all of the help

Put a test light on the back of the switch or wires going to the window motor.
See if it lights up when you the the switch.

Thanks,

On the wires going to the switch panel, they are lettered (A thru G) Would you know what ones are for the drivers side? Or just check all of them... If it does not light up the switch is bad correct. If it does light up, then what could I do.

Thank you again, you have been a real big help.....

Is the clicking coming out of master switch or dash panel circuit breaker.
First check for power in to switch on dark green wire.
and always check the black ground wire for good ground.
The dark green wire Should have 12 volt power on it and not go out when you move or switch drivers door window switch.
If good 12 volt power into it on dark green wire
Then check for power and or ground out of switch on the dark green wire and the brown wire.
Depending on whether you push switch up or down. the power and ground will rotate on the dark green and brown window motor wires.

Like motor runs one way 12 volts on dark green wire and ground on brown wire.
To reverse window motor direction the switch will reverse power and ground.
like motor runs the other way it should switch to ground on dark green wire and 12 volts on brown wire.

If not repair or replace switch,
If good power and reverse power and ground switching repair or replace window motor.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Yes, The clicking is coming out of the Master Switch...

Thank you again for giving me the instructions on trying to resolve this problem.... You have been a really great help..

You re welcome.
If clicking out of master switch.
Could be just shorted or bad switch or a shorted window motor.
I would jumper the window motor with a fused jumper and check the window motor operation to.
And remember you have to reverse power and ground to get the motor to run the other way.
Good luck MT

Do I just hook the jumper up to the battery?

MT-2500

Yes you can or use a fused hot circuit.
If hooking direct to battery always use a fuse or circuit breaker in line.
And remember you will have to ground one side of motor to.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Ok, I have a different switch panel I am going to try. It was tested and all of the switches work on it...(Locks,Mirrors,Windows.) I took the old one out, I hooked the wires up for the power windows on the other switch panel and nothing? Does everything in the switch panel have to be hooked up(Mirrors,Locks, etc) for the windows to work? I did not check the fuse yet. Maybe the fuse blew when I cut the wires.......

Anyway, I hooked the old switch panel for the power mirrors up to see if the new was was bad and it did not work..
HELP!!!!
It is starting to get warm out, I need this to work..

What wires did you cut?
Have you checked the circuit breaker/fuse for power to switch?

The wires for the plugs. I probably should NOT have done that but that is what the dealer told me to do

Oh my that was a bad move for sure.
Was the switch a new one and the right one?
Run the test I outlined for you to see if it is the switch or window motor or wiring problem.
You may need to get a good wiring diagram and wire/put everything back like it was.
I would suggest the All Data sub.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

The switch panel that I got was used..... They were all tested and work ok. There are plugs in the new one that I bought so I know where all of the wires go. I had a funny feeling that they should not have been cut......... the new panel that I have the wires were cut in that also..... The dealer by my house said that the only plug that you can take out is the one for the power mirrors, the other plugs do not come out.....

Do you know if I can buy new plugs for the wiring harness that plugs in to the master switch??

MT-2500

On the wiring harness plugs check with your dealer or go to a bone yard.

The circuit breaker is is in the body relay block behind the left side of dash near I/P [instrument - panel] fuse block.

If you have to rewire it I would suggest the All Data sub for a good wiring diagram.
Or have the dealer print out a wiring diagram.

Have you tested the window motor for a short or working right?
If it is shorted it could burn up a new switch.

I have not had a chance to check the motor yet. I am going to try to get to that today.
Would you have a round about figure on the plugs????
Actually, the master switch that I bought has got the plugs in it. I just need to get them hooked up to the wiring harness that I made a DUMB move on cutting.
Thanks again for your time MT-2500, you have been a really great help in this project.....

The switches all have prongs on them for the wiring harness plug in to plug on it.
If you did not cut your wires to close to the plug in just splice it back together and plug it in.
But be sure to check the motor for a short and if it does you may burn up new switch.
Good luck

Installed a different switch, same problem. Is the power window motor hard to replace?
