Anyone have a clue as to how to get the door panels off? I am having it painted, and want to removed them.

Find and remove a couple of plastic plugs around the top of the panel. Remove the screws under the plugs. Remove the screw from the "finger well" in the arm rest. Remove the last screw from the window/door switch panel. Remove and disconnect the panel. Now grab the bottom of the panel and pull out. You'll hear the "tree fasteners" pop loose. Now wiggle the panel up and over the door lock button and upper seal and you're done. For the rest it's a matter of finding the screws and doing the same out and up manuever. This is based on a 96. A 99 should be close sinse they are in the same generation.

If I recall correctly, there are also two screws on the bottom hiding in the fabric trim area (depending on what kind of panels you have, there might not be any fabric).

In case it does not come loose, it might be better to pop the fasteners with a plastic panel removal tool. If you don't, you might scratch the door or damage the panel...

You will also need to disconnect the metal thingie that connects to the handle before you can take the panel off. Really hard to describe but there is a small piece of plastic that you have to get off the rod by turning it.

Yup, and the head is phillips (at least on my '97 T&C which *should* have the same fasteners) - normally the fastener head is pretty obvious once you know where to look. In this case, if the fabric is like carpet, it's VERY difficult to see any of the fastener characteristics until after you've removed it. Definitely working by feel on this one.

I got them off. The only thing I had to play with was getting the little clip off the window crank. I knew it was there, just a little tricky getting it off.
