I'm helping my friend with his VR4 and he would like to know the cheapest way to build a 11 sec VR4. I told him to do the same things I did, but he said 15g turbos are to expensive. I have a set of dsm 13g turbos sitting in my garage that are ready to go on his car. I would like to know if they will land him a seat in the 11 sec bracket? What would you guys do, and if the 13g will get him that fast, what supporting mods will he need???

If 15gs are too expensive then he doesnt even need to think about major modding. Hes gonna cry when he breaks something if he thinks they are too much.

Seriously. If he's whining over 15Gs, show him a TD05 kit. 13Gs aren't putting anyone in 11s without gail force winds behind you. 13Ts, ebay front mount, meth injection, 550s, walboro pump, and MAFT or an e-manage will do the trick nicely. But as Stealthee said, if one of the cheapest turbo upgrades is too much for him, tell him to sell the vr4 now.

Seriously. I have dropped about $1500 in the last two weeks because of stupid shit. Yes I bought a few small "upgrades" with part of that $1500 but most of it was because of "breakage". Plus if he wants to get into the 11's he needs more than just the turbos. As Igo said, injectors, AFc, etc are all a must. Tell him to be prepared to drop cash to go fast.

As the saying goes with any vehicle:
There are three possibilities:
1. Fast
2. Reliable
3. Cheap
Pick two of the three.

He has the money to build and maintain the car. He just don't want to waste money on a set of 15gs, becuase we already have a set of dsm 13g turbos laying in my garage.

13gs arenot going to get him into 11's. If he wants 11's he needs more turbo than that

i dont know stealthee i bet if he does a single turbo upgrade to one of those 13g turbos he could almost hit 10's!! if not for sure low 11's.. haha
13g's arn't worth it. there not much bigger then stock turbos and you have to buy new manifolds/ adaptor plates..

no you don't, they are probably the cheepest turbo upgrade you can make. About $200 per turbo and a little fab work and you can have used 13g's off a DSM. If you want them to be completely bolt on then they are gonna be a bit more expencive than that. Also, 13G's and N2O will get him there.

13g's can get you an 11.999 without nitrous, but he better have a lot of supporting mods, a really good tune and must be able to drive like a bat out of hell.

What supporting mods will he need to get him around that time?? The turbos are ready to bolt on, we changed the exhaust housings from the 9b turbos. He just want a quick street car, 11sec was just a thought. As long as he is in the low 12s he will be satisfied.
