Whats up everyone- i was on someother honda forums and came across this awesome EF. This is a 91 STD hatch, and this guy named Mackie i guess did the install himself. He started this MASSIVE swap in early december, and finish it in late january. He had no garage, and did it outside in the freezing cold with no help. He used the HYDRAULIC S80 ITR trans, and he also converted his car to OBDII. this is no small task. He also used the ITR gauge cluster. if you want the original link to the pics, here it is (http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=161021) Otherwise, here are the pics....MAD PROPS go to this guy, IMHO :)

he also used the ITR radiator

In order to have the OBDII conversion work he used 4 fuse boxes. Here is a pic of 2 of them, the other 2 are in the cabin.

So...Is that the ultimate sleeper, or what? i was so impressed by this thing. Let me know what you think, or if you've see it before...i guess he's a member of the HB Squad, or somethin. later everyone

yeh, i know he was very lucky to know a guy who wrecked his ITR.
MYFIRST4G-if you go to that link...and read every page....the guy named Mackie talks about how he got the ITR cluster on there and working :)

Custom mounted fluid reservoir? looked like a bunch of 10 cent washers to me. hehe. I like the swap. The gauge cluster is something i havent seen before. There are a few STDs running around my area with B18C5s in them...

heheheh......i noticed the washers after i posted it...i knew someone would mention that :p Really, there are a FEW std's with B18C5's in them in your area? that's amazing.....are they OBDII and hydro trans, tho? just curious :)

I would think it would be more difficult to convert over to use a hydro tranny as opposed to getting like an SiR cable tranny by itself and using it. Isn't the gearing about the same on the ITR and SiR trannys?

Hey Sean theres a 4th gen around ur area with a type r motor rite? Evan showed me it and its a yellow one? have you seen it?

whats up sammy- im not sure if there is a 4G civic or 2G crx around my area with a Type R motor in it  i do remember evan talking about a yellow crx w/ an ITR motor come to think of it.....he said that it was just sitting in his garage for like a year...and when he put the motor in....it wasn't that fast....like not up to B18C5 specs...im not sure tho-i'll ask him the next time i talk to him:)

I would settle for figuring out how to get a teg cluster hooked up.

Personally, I don't think that would be too difficult... just time consuming...
The trickiest part would be deciding how to get it to sit correctly on your dash... but seeing as you have a picture to work with and see how it's supposed to fit together... with time, that shouldn't be too difficult either...
As far as the wiring goes... I would think it would just be trail and error.

if you go to the link that i gave in the first post- he talks about how he wired up the ITR cluster. I believe that the cluster was working with the P73 ECU...but he had to wire in things like the turn signals by trial and error. Im really not sure, just check out that link from honda-tech. :)

Two that I know of. I thought I had built a decent STD sleeper until I met this guy who has a 91 that looks just like mine except his car is lowered. He popped his hood and at first I said "nice valve cover", then he said "No, look at the motor". I was stunned. Beautiful B18C5 stamped on the block. His car uses a Y1 tranny I think. I know its not hydro. He even has the Type R seats in the front and the JDM SiR seats in the back. His car is faaaast. I have seen one other locally. I believe its a 90 hatch. There are actually a bunch of people that have type R swaps in this area. Just not all in 4th gens. While doing my swap there was a 97 ex getting a type r motor. The guy who did my swap has a type r in his 94 hatch. Another kid who works at that shop has a JDM H22a in his prelude. He drove me to work one day when I was supposed to get my car and they were running behind. We made 18 miles in like 9 minutes. Ever gone 145mph in a prelude? I was scared.

Damn dude! in my town I'm pretty much the only honda with a swap...let alone the only 4G(well 2G CRX) with a swap...and our town has got a bunch of imports...and it's not THAT small...it has 30k people in it. There's a 6G EX civic two door that has a greddy turbo kit on it...but i think he popped his Y8 again. the dude loves boost....16psi is a little high in my opinion  I can't imagine having the Type R motor in my bumblebee....damn. I just really want some CTR cams:smoker2: as far as going 145mph in a prelude..i cant say that i have. i believe that i've been close to that in the bumblebee, but i couldn't tell ya for sure (speedo only goes up to 130mph...but of course u knew that:p ) alright later man

Would it be possible to wire up a GSR ECU, using the stock Si setup though?

are you talking about just putting a P72 (OBD 1 GSR ecu im assuming) ECU into a 4G Si? I'm confused. if that's what you are talking about, then you would need the "OBD0" to OBD1 conversion harness adapter thing. But, again i don't believe i fully understood the question.

No, I know that about the ecu.

Why would it matter what ECU you were using? I understand he needed that ecu, but for instance. I want a GSR cluster in my civic. I should just be able to try and figure out how the hell the wiring goes, and fitment right? It doesnt matter if I am OBD0, etc.

i believe that you are correct in that statement. Altho....the GSR (94+) uses an electronically driven speedo (electronic VSS on the trans). Instead of a cable going from the trans to the back of the cluster...there is an electronic wire....I know i oversimplified that..sorry. I used to have a 94 gsr...and the cluster has some additional indicators....like maintenance required light and low gas...and seat belt lights. so..im not sure how you would wire that up... Someone has to know, tho...i have not done any cluster swapping or rewiring...so I dont want to give you the wrong answer. hope that that helped out some :)

No it was a 4th gen. When we were testing out the ctr cams that my friend sold him we saw a yellow 4th gen at that one gas station by his house. He also told me that guy is gonna put a black rag top on it? :p

Yeah well you also have to understand that I live between DC and Baltimore, two large cities. In between Balt and DC is Annapolis the capitol. Maryland is very populated in the suburbs. I swear in 30 years DC and Baltimore will be one solid city. If you dont have a swap around here you need not downshift on anyone with a honda because you never know whats underneath. Within 50 miles of me there are at least 10 shops that do excellent work. Peter Farrell isnt but an hour and a half away, Extreme motorsports is an hour away. I went to a picnic a few years back with my roommate and his girlfriend. His girlfriends sister is married to Dan Kraft. At the time Dan Kraft had the fastest FWD DSM. I think he was also number 5 or 6 on all time fastest DSMs in Turbo Mag. I remember the article. Sean Glazar and all the extreme dudes were there talking cars and stuff. I didnt feel so cool cuz these guys are talking about how to get into the 9s and here I am happy with breaking into 14s....
