dragging brakes

1990 2.8 auto Trooper.
I have been getting horrible gas mileage and was thinking it may be my brakes dragging. When driving I can hear my brakes sqealing very faintly.

My question is, Is there a quick fix to this or do I need too do a complete brake job? When I stop and feel my wheels they are warm. Would lubing the sliders help?

front or rear?
if it's the front, you can do the trick of pushing the pads back a bit from the rotor by doing a quick and hard left-right with the steering wheel. if the symptoms go away, at least your diagnosis has been verified.

have you looked at how much pad life you have?

you could always take the pads off and clean the sliding surfaces and pins and put the old pads back on if they have lots of life left. otherwise. . .it's just a matter of time. (yours)
