'95 Cutlass T/S switch, parking light, ABS light issues...

I just purchased this 1995 Olds Cutlass Supreme for my daughter and overall it is a great car in Super condition. However, there seems to be something going on with the turn signal/parking light and the T/S switch. Seems if you put a piece of cardbord (lottery ticket folded to be more precise) behind the T/S switch ~ in JUST the right position ~ the left parking light works...take it out and the parking light doesn't work, the ABS light on the dash comes on, yet the turn signal works just fine.

Any idea what this could be and how we can fid it?? My daughter is a new driver and I don't want her getting a ticket for this...but they did pass the inspection on it today...go figure...:banghead:

Welcome to AF.

Sounds like the Multi function switch(MFS) is bad.
It also sounds like the pin that the turn signal pivots on is out of place.
Probley due to the plastic breaking around the pin hole.

On the ABS you'll probley need to get the car scanned for codes with an ABS capable scanner.
One other thing, I'd check the brake fluid level first, if this is low it will illuminate the brake light.

Hope that helps.

Thank you. We will check the things you said.

One more thing seems to have happened, although it isn't a big deal, I don't think.... After we replaced the tie rod on the right front, the car has this rattle that seems to come from under the front of the car when you start it...It didn't have that before they did the work on it yesterday.

Do you think it could be a loose bolt or something simple like that?

Your help is much appreciated:grinyes:

Its hard to say whats rattling without inspecting everything.
If the work was done by someone else ,
I would take it back and ask them to check it out.

Though since it only does it when started,
I wouldnt think anything on the suspension would cause this noise.
Might check that the starter is not loose either.
Or maybe an engine mount :dunno:

Hope that helps.
