I just purchased a 1990 GMC Sierra with a 350 engine. The person I bought it from stated it was given to him by a friend about a year ago. He stated it ran fine but he had no use for it because it wasn't a 4x4 so he parked it at the farm. Now it will not start. I sprayed starter fluid in it but it does not seem to hit. The rotor and cap is the only thing I have changed so far. Any suggestions?

If it won't start with starting fluid, then you should check to see if it is getting spark. Are the plug wires hooked up correct? Does the engine have compression?

Yes, it has spark and compression.

I was in the same situation, i bought my 1990 gmc sierra off someone who left it sitting at their farm. It wouldn't start unless we used starting fluid, but it would still die. The problem ended up being the ECM, we replaced that it started up first try. I dont know of any ways u could test to see if u have the same problem, we just got fed up trying to fix the truck and bought 1.
