00 Deville climate control button illumination

The buttons for my climate control do not light up when the lights are on. Does anyone know if they are on a circuit by themselves? I don't know how they are illuminated but I am guessing that it is a real pain to try and replace the light. By the way, the buttons function fine they just do not light up.
