LT4 Knock Sensor

Does anyone know the correct part number for the knock sensor. It's for a 94 LT1. I have part #16214681. I was told that number is for 1996 only, and I was also told it would work with any 94-96 LT1. Anyone know for sure? Thanks!!!!!!

The 1994 LT1 used the 15762437 sensor. The 1996 both the B- and Y-cars CAN use the 10456287 sensor, but the preferred sensor for the LT4 is the 16214681 because it is slightly de-tuned. The detonation sensor programming and electronics are the same.

I'd suspect the tuning range or signal is calibrated differently between the 1994-95 and the '96, and would not advise using them in alternate applications.

So basically the LT4 sensor 16214681 should only be used with the 96.
If that is the case which LT4 knock sensor is the one that will work with my 94 LT1?

Why the need for an LT4 KM? If its for a stock application, they are not needed :)

well my car is not 100% stock. The lt1 stock sensor is very sensitive at higher rpm's taking out an un-necessary amount of timing. It can be felt. The Lt4 sensor will eliminate most of the false positives and will still retard the engine when a true knock is present. It will help very little only at high rpm's.

Sorry, but I don't have the part number for a LT4 sensor that will work in a '94 or '95, since the LT4 didn't appear until '96.

My '94 Impala isn't stock either. The larger cam (more net lift and a lot more duration than the LT4) ported heads and 2.02/1.60 valves demanded more fuel and timing. I reduced the knock retard steps and increased the attack and recovery rates in the programming to take care of KS retard. The timing tables are also a bit more aggressive. A different KS might help, but a reprogram will do a great deal more and solve any unnecessary or excessive KS retard.
