Outside Humming Noise

Hopefully someone can take an educated guess of what the following may indicate.
While driving the car, I hear an outside humming noise. If I turn the steering wheel to the right (not a complete turn but a curve in the road that goes right), no noise. I only hear it when driving straight or if the road curves to the left.
I don’t hear the noise when the car is at a stand still and I’m racing the engine. I only hear it when I’m driving.
Any clues what may be causing this noise would be appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

Check the condition of your front wheel bearings, sounds like one of them may be going out. Be careful and touch the hub with your hand to see if it's heating up after driving around a while.

thanks
I'll check it the next time I take it a drive.
May I ask another question.....
About 3 months ago I had both front driving axles replaced. Are the front wheel bearings part of the front driving axles?
Thanks again.

Should be, I had a trailer axle replaced recently that came with fresh bearings

The bearings are pressed into the spindle. Completely different setup than trailer axles. The hub is then pressed into the bearing, then the axle feeds through the hub. It's pictured below. #51720B is the bearing, and #51750 is the hub.
Bearing part # 51720-2D000 List $38.55 I can do $29.00
Snap ring part # 51718-2D020 List $7.66 I can do $5.50
A few bucks for shipping. Hopefully you won't need the hub too, if it is a bearing problem.

Yeah, my guess is wheel bearings too. Hums that change with the steering wheel are often wheel bearing issues.

My 2001 Elantra 5 spd manual with 115K miles is making humming noise when it hits 40 mph. Humming pitch changes from then on with respect to vehicle speed. Driving at 40 mph, I put the gear into neutral to see if it was coming from transmission. The humming noise persisted even transmission disengaged, therefore, I concluded it was coming from wheel bearing. I am going to disassemble the wheels to see if I have worn out bearings.
