alright kinda in relation to this thread
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=683038

looking for a new car, i figure id start looking into mustangs...i didnt get any feedback there but i was woundering if u guys could help me out

now i wont beat around the bucket...i was always a chevy guy...but camaro to mustang...though the camaro edges out in speed alota times it really isnt a Daily driver...well to a certain extent

the mustang seems like a platform for dailydriver, yet being a gas guzzlin beast

so what do u guys figure...only bad thing i see bout this car is maybe the gas consumption but i can deal with that....u guys know these cars not me

so just woundering on ur feedback, id prolly be like a 2000 ish mustang GT

not alot of guys have mustangs in my town...theres one SVT cobra owned by one of my buddies his is a 96 or something, the year before they started supercharging them or something he was saying...his is supercharged though..aftermarket

other is a 94 with the 5.0

other then that just a bunch of the new 06's and 1 fox body
hahaha

but yea thanks for any input!

What do you want to know about it? Performance-wise or what? 99-04 GT's are alright cars, they'll make a fine DD. They're pretty slow but if you're not use to anything decently fast it might seem quick.

how slow? anything under 8 sec 0-60 is "quick" for me i know its not gonna be anything like my buddys sti but still im sure quite a bit faster then my old cavalier z24

how are they like reliabilty, are they solid like rattles and stuff? (interior I mean)

and which years are better like i noticed they introduced the 4.6 in 95 i believe? so since its a diff motor maybe should be looking like 99 or 00 with 4.6 apposed to 95-96...my thinking is early bugs be worked out???

Oh, well then it would probaly seem pretty fast to you then haha. With a 5 speed they do 0-60 in around low 6's, maybe high 5's with a good driver. Mustangs aren't exactly known for their quite interior but it's not too bad, every now and then you might hear a rattle. In '96 Ford switched from the 5.0 to the 4.6, they were known as NPI 4.6's and flowed horrible. In '99 the 4.6 PI 4.6 came out which was basically the same thing as the '96-'98 motors but had better flowing heads and intakes and a little more agressive cams. You can also put '99-'04 heads and intakes in '96-'98 motors, A LOT of people do. And BTW the NPI motors were rated at 215 hp(with the exception of '98 which 225) and PI motors were rated at 260.

so ur basically saying 99 and up is the way to go

i hear alot on how a guy should go with the 5.0 cause everythings cheaper for aftermarket etc...

but is it really worth it?

how i see this car is, id do maybe intake and exhaust and just use it as a DD

untill down the road i bought some eco gas princess car...and id make this car a weekend warrior...like id wanna pump her up and slay some imports at the track

i DO wanna see my self on the 1/4 strip later on...

Well yeah the 5.0's do have a cheaper/better aftermarket and are easier to work on. If you're looking to make a track car I'd suggest getting a fox body, they come with a 5.0 and are light cars. You can pick them up a dime a dozen(normally a couple grand in decent condition) and build it and use the Cavalir as a DD.

if you have the mean, definatly get an 05+ model though as they are better than the previous models without a doubt. faster and handle better, and have a nicer interior.

i dont have the cavalier, it blew up....well the motor anyways

and suprisingly noooo fox bodys around here

like i dont wana a strict track machine....i want a car that will be like a street wrecker, and im simply going to prolly hit up the tracks on a cpl fridays of the month...u pay 40 bucks and race who ever u want all night

Grab a 1995 GT in good condition with low miles. You get the 5.0L and a new body style. Not as many people expect them to be fast either. Add a set of heads, cam, intake, exhaust, and some rearend gears. You'd have a 12 second car if you can drive. Its addictive though. When I first bought my car I was gonna build a 11-12 second daily driver. Well, now I've got a 9.80 car that runs off of pump gas and gets about 15mpg lol.

I've had a Fox, and now I drive a 2000 GT. They're both great, but not in the same way. My fox had more of a "seat of your pants" feel to it, but my New Edge will run circles around it. I'd suggest going to some car shows, hit the dealership, sit in a few, drive a few. If you're not comfortable sitting in it, you'll hate driving it. Find the one that gives you a silly grin on your face. There's no better decision making tool. :grinno:

BTW, my 2000 is for sale if you're interested (Not sure what I'm gonna try next, still waiting for my cheesy grin to appear)
