Steering Locked

Hi, I recently purchased a 2003 Grand Am SE within a month. It has a 2.2L ecotec, and automatic transmission. I'm not too technical with cars so bare with me. A few times randomly, the steering has been locked when I start up the engine, and shift into drive. A bit of force will cause a click, and it will steer fine. I am wondering if this is a sign of low power steering fluid or something worse. Thanks.

Welcome to AF.
If it was realy cold the steering can stick or feel stuck due to the fluids being to cold to be pumped by the PS pump.
Or the fluid level could be low.
Have you checked the fluid level when cold?
If it wasnt cold and the fluid level is OK then I would have it inspected by a qualified shop.
