Just a little FYI if you remove your catalytic converter on the 2g eclipse you will get a check engine light until you get a new ECU.

Okay, first off, if you remove your catalytic converter on a 2G you may get a check engine light (CEL). However to correct the problem, you do not need to "get a new ECU". You can either rewire the 02 sensor, check the vfaq's, www.vfaq.com, for instructions. If you don't want to do that, you can simply unscrew the 02 sensor after it gives the CEL and let it sit in air for a couple hours. When you put it back in the ECU will clear the CEL could stay gone anywhere from a day to months. You could get a datalogger or pocketlogger to clear the ECU (what I do) the pocketlogger costs $175 and uses your existing PDA. Lastly, you could go and buy a $1500 complete standalone engine management system and program it to permanently ignore the bank 1 02 sensor number 2. FYI.

ok here is what you have to do, Go to radio shack and find part # 271-1356 This is a 1/4 watt, 1 megaohm risistor. Put this inline with the black wire at the rear o2 sensor. What this does is fools the ecu into thinking it is getting normal readings from the cat, pretty much elimenating the cel.
But AFX just made an ecu for 2gnts that elimenates the rear o2 sensor all together

you could just pull up on the yellow fuse in your fuse box for a couple seconds to clear a cel....also if you remove the cat, just run a race pipe,it has a place for the o2 sensor anyways so why would you be concerned about an o2 giving you a cel?

Race pipes are just straight exhaust metal. There's no room for the 02 sensor. When you remove your cat, it doesn't heat up at idle obviously b/c it's not there. That's why the sensor sends the signal. It's an error code saying the cats not there.
