capable power

i own a 95 sohc dodge neon 4dr. it's auto and kinda slow. i know the firewall has a pre-existing clutch hole.
wat i'm really wondering, how much power is the neon sohc capable of taking till internals need to be upgraded. i was hoping for somewhere near 190-200hp, a supercharger, and yea some other little things. i'd rather the super for instant power instead of the lag of a turbo. and supers work even better in the cold, living in new jersey i get cold weather.

There is no supercharger for the neon. Any setup like that would be custom made.

Swap to an MTX and you will instantly be quicker. The ATX gear ratios are terrible for acceleration.

There was a guy who had a 400 WHP SOHC neon that was turbo'd, so they are quite capable of 190-200HP.

i just went out and got a book that listed some parts for tuning, of all the cars in there, the neon had all of like 5 things, civics had shit i'd never even heard of, god damn those civics, i'm starting to hate em, more so than b4, one backed into my PARKED neon at 3am. my auto can haul ass for the power that it has(130ish), i did beat an integra the other day, he musta miss-shifted or something. i really just dnt like turbo's, i have 2 one my dodge stealth tt, but i like thte supercharger, and the supercharger is more of an american car thing, example how many civics or 300zx's do u see running around with supers. that and i really like the instant power. and i thought they used superchargers in the mid 90's in the neons 4 racing in the scca?

Nope, no S/C in the neons ever! Like I said before, if that is something you wanna do then by all means, go for it. Everything will have to be fabricated.

Turbo's don't have very much lag anymore and can spool at about 2000-2500 RPM's. Where most people launch at and if you have an auto, then you can brake boost!!!!

The SRT-4 turbo can be used on our neons, but since you have a SOHC (LIKE ME :grinyes: ) you would either need to swap over to a DOHC head or buy an adaptor.

well my cousin has a 98 2dr auto, that obviously has the dohc, its probably pretty close to death. i figure it dies, i get the engine rebuilt and change over to a m/t then play with that.
the guy who owned her car cut the spring to lower instead of buying lowering springs

If you build the DOHC engine up for a turbo, you could bolt the SRT-4 right up to the DOHC head. An SRT-4 turbo setup will cost about $1500 if you shop around enough.

the only problem is i have another car already, if i had a third(i still live at home) i'd b shot execution style.
wat if i attached an intercooler to the intake on sohc, not much power but noticable.
also i've always wandered if put the intake right thru the hood would that work. cause that would b direct cold air, pop a scoop on the hood, air filter under the scoop, and intake tubing behind that, maybe intercool that tubing

It's the 2nd gen neon Magnum engine which is a SOHC engine rated at 150HP.
