Ok, I had my power steering looked at this week at school. They told me I had no hydrualic pressure. So, if the Electronic Variable Assist steering, would I have this happen?

Also, is there a way to find out if the rack is bad without tearing the car into 1000 pieces and without swapping parts yet?

Sorry, but your question does not make any sense.

If you have no pump pressure, then I would say its the pump.
Just my guessamet.

Well, that is what I was told. That it could be my pump, but my steering rack could be bad, too. He, also, told me that if replacing the pump did not fix it, then I should not drive on the new pump with a bad rack, and it is my daily driver, so I can't let it sit. So, that is the reason for my question, as I would want to knock it all out at one time if I could possibly find out if the rack was bad without replacing the pump.

I don't know...I'm justa DIY guy, not a real mechanic.

I understand.
Both parts are not cheap either.

Though a pump is cheaper , and easier to replace.

It is hard to proeprly diagnose a steering rack with out a lift a see it working/running

Obviously If you have metal shavings in the fluid then I would say the rack is bad.
Changing the in line filter can also give hints of metal when the rack is going bad. But it is located under the car by the R&P.

Let me know what you figure out.
