Just bought a 97 Accord...

I just bought a 97 accord second hand a few days ago and am planning to put away the R1 for a while. It's completely stock, nothing added. It's not the V-6 version, but its not a 4 door either. 5-speed, and milage is fair. It has a few options, ac, power-doorlock, power-window, and power-mirror.

Anyway, I was wondering what you guys recommend to modify it so that I can get a good balanced and stable run when I go off to a track or try running it through a few neighbourhoods with winding roads. Just think of like this...help me supe up my car. I am planning to add a cold air intake, tanabe exhaust, maybe drop it a few inches, some big rims, and maybe new headers. All the body kits and shit like that can wait until I win a few track meets with some friends.

Right now, I have a set of NGK spark plugs and a set of rims off a 99 accord to put on it. As a dress-up, I was planning to get the agressor kit, with JDM head lights and HID lights to light it up.

I wanted to know what you guys recommend to get the maximum horsepower out of the car, and which brands are good. If I can get this car running good and stable, maybe in the future I may even get a GReddy turbo kit to bolt on, but thats later.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Just go bolt ons, since they're the easiest. Intake, header, exhaust. The "good" brands for these are:
Intake - AEM, Injen, Iceman, CP
Header - DC Sports (heard it was the best for 5th gen. accords), GReddy
Exhaust - Apex'i, Tanabe, 5Zigen, etc... it really depends on what you're looking for.

Hope that helps a bit. :)

Yes, great! I always thought AEM was a good brand to buy cold air intake from.

I've made a list of the following:

AEM Cold Air Intake w/ K&N Filter
GReddy Headers
Apexi exhaust set
vtec timer
front and rear struts
adjustable fuel pressure regulator
short shifter

I have placed some of them on order from various nearby places already, i am not sure about an ECU to buy. What will it change if I bought a Mugen ECU chip? Any horsepower difference? Would I have to change tachometer and speedometer as well?

Thanks UCIntegra1 for the help.
