Door Jam sensor help

Hey guys. I have had my 99 taurus and the door jam sensor is not working. It says the door is open but it is closed and all the inside lights are staying on. I disconnected any lights I could so they battery will not die as quick, and tomarrow during the day I will find the fuse so i can just take it out. But if anyone can help me out to replace/fix the problem I would really appreciate it. I can also answer many other questions about 99 tauruses since mine has 190k and still going strong. I have done many reparis that were not costly and easy fixed and many regular problems that go wrong on tauruses.

P.S. I talked to a local electronics shop and they wanted $70 to find the bad sensor and about $70 or $80 to replace it. So it would be about $140 to $150 to fix it. But I can do it with a little help if someone can help me. I could trace the bad door myself but the light is not going out. Autozone has the part for $12. If anyone has anything to say about it please let me know.

Thank you,
Brian

Do a search of the forum for door switches and you will find many posts concerning this problem. Easy way to find it is to spray a good lubricant into the latch mechanism and open and close the door a few times to see if the light goes out. If it goes out, that is the bad switch. If it does not help, go to the next door. Start with the most used door (drivers usually).

One thing you might want to do before buying anything is spray a bunch of WD40 on each door latch on the door. That usually fixes the problem.
