hey!
long story short
last car was a 98 cavalier z24
i know its a cavalier hah but it did have some go, haha not alot but some! (150 hp/150 tq)
anywho, bent piston rod, shit got broke
was sitting at the mechanics got broken into...stereo jacked....enough damage done that its written off
getting check next week for car
soooo
time to go car shopping!!!
ill just list out some stuff id liek to be considered in my decision
Reliabilty
- this car will be only transportation....i need it to be trustworthy like completly, also if it takes well to aftermarket
solid
-last two cars had interior (dash, seats, sterring wheel) rattles from hell, very very annoying...exp when ur trying to impress a lady
0-60
-7 sec or less stock is ideal, but i can deal with slower, assuming i can get it up to my goal in the future...idealy 0-60 of inbetween 5-6 sec
no engine swaps!! i wont be doing at any time
fun
-something that is a fun car to drive around in, like a kinda car where u wanna go out for aimless drives just cause the car is sooo neat
car/truck/suv
-doesnt matter what it is
tuner
-in same breath i perfer the loud exhausts and the psst of turbos
turbo
-can almost promice that when financially stable ill be adding boost to this car!
some cars i looked at already (listed dislikes)
6th gen civic SIR
-every one and their grandma has one
-wheres the tq
sentra spec v
-reliabilty i heard somwheres, that these cars cant handle too much aftermarket
2002 wrx
-tranny problems up the ying yang....would need a 2004 or newers...too expensive though
eagle talon/DSM
-reliabilty, rather it be on the road more then the shop
VW
-reliabilty again
Integra
-just started looking at, not too too fond of looks and would need gsr or type r, though type r too expensive
nothing against older like 91 or 92's but just scared of reliabilty....like time wears parts...plus weater it still being a solid car...thats why never really looked at skylines or anything
i think theres everything there, except my limit is roughly 15,000 CANADIAN
i can go higher if car is worth it
and remember Daily Driver
i know there is a car out there for me!
help?

240's are pretty cool...you can get some good power out of the KA engine from what I've heard. It's also not all that hard to find one that's already had the SR20DET engine swap.

I recommend the WRX if you can (wagons are cheaper). WRXs don't have tranny problems really. It has a bad rap cuz most people don't use it right and they break. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=1470826#post1470826
Otherwise, it has good power stock and very fun to drive, but interior is so-so.
May want to consider an A4 1.8 turbo also. Luxury interior, huge aftermarket support, reliability is a toss up, falls in your price range, and can get you those 0-60 times you want. Audis can be made to go very fast.

I should say that Audi generally has good reliability. The parts cost aren't that horrible but they are still higher (for any german car). Paying a mechanic to work on the car will cost a lot so whether you can do work yourself or not is something you may need to consider with an Audi purchase. Otherwise they typically aren't a vehicle known for "leaving you stranded on the highway" or anything. Installing a chip is by far the most cost effective way of adding power on an A4 as it will bring the power numbers close to a stock WRX. other thing you can do is a bigger turbo and you can get around 350 horses on stock internals. Pretty much any other upgrades require extensive work/swap, but still good amounts of available power from the 1.8 turbo. It isn't a car you'd want to stick a "fart can" on if that's what you're looking for but it will definitely sound good. Search around on the A4 forums in AF. Also www.audiworld.com. Aside from the reliability/maintenance issues, it is a great car that may suit your needs well.
240's are well spoken for. I don't know much about them myself, but check the other posts in this section (car buying) as it's been mentioned several times recently.

Mustang's aren't bad. Plenty power and big aftermarket for V8. many people tend to take care of their mustangs so reliability is all right. at the same time, check out the GM counterparts, Camaro/Firebird.
Yes, Audi is owned by VW or it may be the other way around, but are quite different from each other. VW/Audi i think have one of the best warranty programs in the business actually. Many people speak positive about the VW
golf, could look into that. I wouldn't say Audi's are unreliable. They're kinda like SUVs where they are money pits and require some upkeep to stay running right. Turbo "should" be replaced every 100k, cam belt every 40k or so, few other things. Most responsible Audi owners will have all the maintenence records of the car's entire life. If they don't have them, then definitely walk away. Otherwise, when taken care of, they're good buys IMO. Can't think of other cars that can be turboed and be reliable and a daily driver.

Another good option. Unique styling and great horsepower/torque numbers via V6 and supercharger (no turbo lag or anything) plus interior is quiet and usuaslly has nice options. Grand prixs are kind of a "not too much, not too little" car.

Have you looked at an Acura RSX Type S yet? Don't really know how much canadian is but I believe it's more than AMerican money right...if so your price range is good. It has 200hp stock and is very upgradable. Not only this but Acura is very reliable and will run forever if you take good car of it. Take a look into that.
