1992 Eagle Summit ES Hatch 1.5

OK, So this stupid wheel wobble has gotten a bit out of control, pretty embarassing when the pals are like "dude drive us there" and we're getting a vibration massage the whole way.

OK, I'm pretty convinced that when I was attempting to pull the hub off to get at the brake rotor I damaged something by prying and whacking it, because I can see that the DR wheel wobbles even at slow speeds and the PS does not. I think it might require a new hub or something but here's some pics of my brainiac:

I took the wheel off and realized this bolt was loose, tightened it up and well somehow I think the car is less violently wobbling but whatever

this shot is the cross bar that I have no idea what purpose it serves (steady things?) anyway, you can see the vibrations have waddled away a nitch

OK so here's the ball joint on the PS side, totally blown to pieces

and here's the steering joint losing grease

******

So I took the car in and the MASS tire place here said that I needed new struts and right lower ball joint/control arm all needed to be replaced for the tune of $1185, hahaha, I said I paid half that for the car!

Anyway, would an alignment do anything to correct the wobble if the tires are out of whack, I don't have any significant pulling to one side, though could they straighten the DR wheel so when it rolls it isn't visibly wavering?

man, to just humm on the highway would be fabulous.

Greetings from south shore boston

from your pics, see worn stabilizer bar bushing and endlink (and an oil leak that needs attention), a tie rod that may or may not be worn, grease coming out is not idicative, but the shop may have seen a ball joint thats bad and your car, dont know right off, the ball joint may have to be purchased as one piece with the control arm. if the wheel is wobbling, no, there is nothing they can do till the parts are replaced.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to jack up the front of the car and put it in drive and watch the wheel go round hopefully this will be more indicative. But yeah I need to change those ball joints, but i don't think they are more than $10/p

I'll post more on the way
