I have a 1999 Grand Prix GT and have purchased a new keyless entry pendant. I have the programming insrtuctions and they fail to work. When I go thru the procedure and get to the point of turning the key from accessory to off and back to accessary quickly this is what I get:
2 chimes, a pause, 3 chimes, a pause, 6 chimes, a pause, 8 chimes
this repeats itself 3 times then stops and when I hold the lock and unlock buttons down for 14 seconds nothing happens.
Does anyone know what is happening here? Some advice would be very helpfull.

After you turn the key acc/off/acc, are you also opening then closing a door before the chimes start? As far as the chimes go, the first two flashes are indicating the type of BCM you have (type 2) and the programming mode you're in (mode 3). These two should be explained in your owners manual. The second two flashes I believe are trouble code(s), and I'm still working on deciphering it for you.

My son and I just performed the programming for his remote tonight using these instructions. The first set seemed to work the best. Nothing worked though until he found and replaced a blown fuse in the fuse panel under the hood. It also affected his radio. Good luck.
