Emergency Brake

I just a 1994 Grand Marguis GS. Of course there is no owners manual with it. I think the emergency brake pedal got pushed down a little , the light tends to go on sometimes. I am not sure how to release the brake if I apply it fully because there is no release lever. Do I press the pedal all the way down to apply it and then press again for it to release?

The brake pedal should release on it's own when the transmission is placed in to a forward gear. You can place the car into drive and lift the brake pedal with your foot, but most times if the brake pedal does not release all the way its due to a broken cable on the axel. If this is the case do not replace the cable with an aftermarket one, I went through two within 8 months, replaced it with a factory cable and its been working for 3 years now.
