I think there are some posts missing in the link.
So basically, some dumbass rear ended a W124 300CE AMG and drove off...and the person who did it was a member of that forum? or just that the guy who was in search for the perpetrator new a guy on the forum who was behind him at the time of the accident and took pictures?

Reminds of the story about a hardened criminal who was asked to speak to some juvenile delinquents about life in jail by his parole officer. Apparently, the old guy turned up and all the young guys try to impress the crim with what they've done... old fella listens for a while and decides he wants a cup of tea...
... a particularly kid who thinks he's tougher and meaner than the rest keeps bugging the former convict. Finally, he finishes his tea and picks up a plastic stirring stick and his tea cup and says... "Look kid, you think you're tough and you think your talk impresses me - well it don't. All I have to say to you is that you keep on this path you will end up in and of prison like me. But kid I can tel you something about living life in prison will be like for you... you wanna know what it is..."
The kid and all the other kids are listening on each breath...
"See this straw... well that's what your @#$% is sized now but after a week in the slammer and a pretty young boy like you will have one the same size as the top of this coffee mug... got it?"
