Taurus Sho Stops Dead

My 92 Taurus Sho just stops by itself as though the gas was turned off.
If I let it set for about 15 to 20 minutes it will start right up again. The
only thing I can think of is that some kind of electronic componet that controls the gas flow is going bad and intermittently turns off the fuel. My electrical system is on and the starter and battery are good. The cutoff button in the trunk is down so it can't be that.

Can anyone help with this.

Thanks
R. Voss

Welcome to the forum!

The inertia switch in the trunk can fail, even if the button is not being tripped. However, before replacing that, I'd suggest you determine if the problem is lack of fuel or spark.

Crankshaft Position Sensors are known problems with the V-6 SHO and could cause stalling such as what you describe. If you decide to replace it, you may as well plan on doing the timing belt and water pump at the same time, unless they were just replaced.
