On my 91 civic si the alternator light is on and has ben on for awhile now.
but heres the catch it is charging 13.9 volts witch is good and the amps check out good also so were in system should i look to find out why this light is coming on and staying on.
i don't really want to pull the bulb but is getting on my nerves.

Probably an internal alternator issue. (means new or rebuilt alternator to fix)
I have an 88 Ford Crown Vic that has been doing the same thing for about a year now.
If you change out the alternator, the light would probably go out.

Well, its like this.... my cap's read 14.4 volts for my system, but when i put my multimeter across my battery it gives me 12.9........... So i dont think your battry should be that high, it might fry your alternator and your battery, This happened to my battery, my Alt was going, and what it did was chage my battery at 26 volts! yes, thats right 26 volts, my car smelled like rotten egg for a while cause of the batt acid..... so get ur alt checked out!

Broken Voltage Regulator, yes it will go out very soon. get a new alt before it blows your battery or worse kill all the electrical system. The idiot light will come on if charging below 12.3 volts and above 13.2. Correct me if Im wrong but I think thats what I read this weekend in my manual

my friend's taurus did something like that, it must've over charged the battery or something, because when he started it in my driveway the whole battery just exploded and it must've woken up my whole neighborhood. it sounded like a cannon and there was battery acid everywhere.

hey bud it does sound like the voltage regulator isnt doing what it is supposed too do. I work at Advance Auto so I see it a lot, I would try a new alt if that didnt help I would take it back. But better safe than sorry and save some cash. Just what I see all the time at my work. Oh ya and one thing your alt has to run between 13.8-14.2 actually little thing i picked up at work.
