Check engine light 94

Sorry if this has been covered I looked around but only saw the actual codes listed.

I have a 94 grand am gt 3.1 and need to see what code has been stored.

What tool if any can I use?

Autozone told me they couldnt read it because it was some mix of obd and obd ii..

If I can use a scanner what model will work? I would rather buy one then take it somewhere to be read.

I know on some vehicles you can jump 2 pins or even turn the key on/off 3 times to get the light to flash, I take it this isnt possible with a 1994 model?

Mine has the 12 pin connector with only the pins B, A and M occupied.
