Shifter Problem

I was installing a new automatic shifter and once i finsihed it the key would not turn into the on postion. It would just stay locked like it didnt know it was in park or like there was no key in there at all.

Sounds like your linkage is off. Try manually pushing the shift lever on the tranny into park. If that doesnt work check that the steering column is actually in park. You can do this simply by turning the section of the column nearest to the dash counter clockwise to make sure it is in correct position. Hope this helps some.

actually i bent the shifter rod, i got it fixed. I did it trying to change to a diff shifter handle. :banghead:
