This is something different for me. :) Finished this about a month ago but have only just got around to taking pics. It is the Revell kit built strictly OOB for the NSW NNL Cup at Tumit in April.

Wow Phil, you can even make a Focus look good. Great job, let us know how it does in the contest.

That's very nice, Phil

I didn't know the Revell model but you've done something very clean with it.

Mate that is fantastic! Looks almost like the real thing, paint job is very nice and the whole car is very very clean! Any ideas where to find this kit? It isn't the tuner one is it?

Nice Phil but i have a very hard time believing this is the Revell kit. Revell kits always look heavy and lack crispness, but youve made it look fantastic. Rumors said you had left the forum, glad to see you around and kicking. Keep it up!

Great build, nice paint and good photography. Thumbs up. Which kit is that? I always avoided the tuner kit because of it's boxart, does it have stock parts?

I will go ahead and post my Revell / Hasegawa Focus for comparison ;-)

Wow, that's killer. Everyone else builds the ugly (to my eyes) tuner version and I've yet to see one of these built as a stock SVT. Glad it's yours!

In case anyone wants better (less rim-protector) rubber for the Revell tuner rims, the tires in a Polar Lights/AMT '04 or '05 Pontiac GTO fit perfectly.

Man I despise this car in real life but WOW! you've blown me away with the quality of this build, you could have alot of people fooled into thinking it was real had it not been posted on a model forum. excellent. excellent job, good luck in the contest!

Is this SVT kit available in OZ?

That first photo could be from a Ford photo shoot.

When and where is the Tumut show Phil? Would not mind going as it is only a few hours from here.

Thanks for the kind comments guys.

Nens & anopanjo: The kit was pretty common around the place a while back. Don’t know if it still is. :dunno: This kit is the one with the yellow tuner on the box top. Inside it has alternate parts for either the standard SVT or the aforementioned tuner.

Chad: I never went anywhere, just less active posting these days.

Tang : Way too many Ferraris being built this anniversary year. I have several different kits in my stockpile, will get to them one day. :)

Mal: The show is in Tumit on the 22 April. That is all we know at this stage. The show has been held at the Gundagai RSL club previously, moving to Tumit (where the two organisers live) for the first time this year. It is only a small show but was a lot of fun last year - the first time I attended. It is NNL format so the competitors are also tasked with judging which fills in the day nicely.

The idea of the NNL Cup category is for everybody to build the same kit exactly as per the (fortunately quite vague) instructions. So this year the chosen Revell kit possibilities were either a blue standard or wild yellow Focus.

Looks great! I've a friend at work who has this car (in red) and I've wondered how well the kit builds up to a stock SVT. Seeing what you can do for it really makes me feel like it'd be worth building. If you can make it into such a stunner, maybe I can make it passable. Great work!

Thanks Phil.
Any chance of getting a peek at the engine bay and the front headlights please?

I am starting to think it may be possible to cannibalize a few bits and pieces for some WRC Focii I have around.

Cheers

Almost bought one of these tonight, how is the fitment?

RallyRaider
03-12-2007, 06:06 AM
Nens: Unfortunately the Revell kit is in 1/25 scale so not much use on 1/24th scale Tamiya WRC Focii. Even if the scale was right, the headlights are the same early style as in the Tamiya kits.

MidMazar: I started with Finishers Prost Blue but added white/blue pearl powder and clear to lighten it. Followed that by several coats of Tamiya TS-13 clear. In fact the car looks much darker sitting on a shelf inside. A combination of ouside lighting and the camera makes the colour appear lighter I guess.

digitalbanzai: The fitment is so-so. Particularly the way the body sits on the chassis, too high and towards the rear. If you build one be careful with the fitment of the interior tub and dash as I think this is where the problem lay. Also the font bumper has a vague fit, ended up being very messy.

This shows that with good skills, even an OOB build can look this good!

Very nice Phil!

If I did never see the bottom part of the car, I you could of passed it off as a real focus.

This is a nice example that OOB can be terrific models. Many times the best detailing work is ruined because a no so good painting job. Congratulations nice model really.
