i have a 2000 gtp 3800 suprcharged with 77,000 mles ,first it took a long time to start ,seemed like the fuel pump check valve was letting the fuel run back to the tank.i started turning the ign. key on and off about 4 or 5 times hearing the fuel pump kick on ,sure enough it would start up right away.i guess i bought a little time from changing the fuel pump by doing this.yesterday the car wouldnt stay running ,it would start for about 3 seconds then it would die.i guess its time to change the fuel pump.anybody know of a good place to buy one for a good price,i looked on e bay ,they want about $230 new from canada.i tried bypassing the resistor ,i didnt help,i pulled the pump assy out and then pulled the small pump motor out of the holder.i hooked up 12 volts to it and put it in a jar of water, it pumped it out about a foot high ,i guess the pump is ok,now iam not sure whats wrong with the car, anybody have any ideas, much would be appreciated.

Before replacing the fuel pump did you check pressure at the front rail? Another common problem with GTPs is the fuel pump resistor which you can temporarily bypass. See link below.

Since you posted in an old thread I have moved your post to a new thread.

Also, a flaky fuel pressure regulator can cause difficult starting. Fuel pressure should read 48-55 psi.

i replaced the fuel pump and resistor ,still wont start, runs for 4 seconds then dies?:banghead: i havent tryed the fuel pressure regulator yet,i ended up towing to a repair shop, ill let you know what they find.i towed it to the shop they said it started right up for them after charging up the battery ,dead battery cleared the check engine light.i had them change the fuel filter, they said i was partially clogged, maybe this was the problem afterall or maybe the security cutoff ? well ive been driving it for a few days with no problems.i would advise anybody to change the fuel filter first before doing anything.
