ive got a brand 07 ion3 and im about to perform its first oil change. any reccemendations? a friend of mine told me to just use basic gm certified oil. in my older cars i used lucus stabilizer and at every change i used lucus fuel treatment. any suggestion on what to do with this one? i wanna do what ever it takes to make sure it runs in top shape

we use 10w30 here, but depending on where you're at, 10w30 or 5w30 will be fine in either case. i've had mine since early '03 and the only thing i've added is BG MOA oil additive, and BG fuel additive. Mine's still going strong.(i'm at 85k now) there are many customers come in and add nothing and there's are still going strong too. so as additives go, that's up to you. it's a good motor, so it's going to last. if you've had good luck with lucas products, then continue to use them.

when changing oil on a ECOTEC engine, don't forget the special socket required for the oil filter. also i wouldn't use lucus oil treatment myself(visit bobistheoilguy.com for my reasion why), actually there are only a few additives i would reccomend, as long as the oil bottle has a SM cert it fine by me, unless you are tring to hide a bigger problem
