Solenoid issues??

Hi. So I seem to be having issue-after-issue with my '98 Bravada. This most recent is driving me nuts. Please make a note that I'm completely automobile stupid so... Anyway, I can start the vehicle and everything is working fine except the button on the ... (automatic, puts it into drive) will not push down so I'm stuck in park.

I called the dealership and they said something about a solenoid and having to pry off something on the console (i can't find this) and then pushing a white button or lever. Then I'd have to park in neutral and put on the parking break until i fix this issue.

Any help with what is wrong, the temporary fix (finding it) and all else is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

First check all fuses.
