I was driving down the street yesterday when I went to brake. The pavement was dry and clear. My truck wasn't stopping and it was making the sound you hear ABS brakes do when your sliding. I made the turn and hit my brakes again and they were fine. I then proceded home and when I went to turn on my street, same thing. Scared the crap out of me. I have no idea why it would do this. Please help.

Is your abs light on? Do the brakes actually lock up? The abs unit used in your truck (94-97 i believe) has a problem with random activation, and there was a gm service bulletin put out by gm awhile ago about the problem. My old 95 did it. when ever i hit a good bump while braking, the abs would activate, but that only caused me to slide if the road was wet or had gravel on it.

The ABS light isn't on and has never came on. The brakes didn't lock up but instead made that ABS sound and the brakes didn't stop me. It was like I was
sliding on ice. I have had my truck do the same thing you metioned on wet pavement or snow but never dry pavement. Was their a recall? Thanks for helping.

if the abs light is on now, get it scanned so you know what the problem is. with abs it could be a number of things. dont know if there was a recall on it but there was a buletin put out by gm about the problem. we had it in the FAQ section but due to new copyright rules, we had to remove it.
