Hey all,
I'm thinking of picking up a gamecube on tuesday when I get paid... I want to buy the system, and resident evil... and a memory card probably...
What other games have you all played that are any good?

:(
Have you seen Resident Evil for GC? Its sick :)
I'm also looking at an Xbox... Halo + Sega GT look pretty fun...
Or maybe I wont buy either, and just buy GTA Vice City, and put the rest of my check in savings for a 240sx :D

I'm buying a Gamecube once they go down in price again. There a lot of cool games about to come out.
PS2 is still the best though! :D

Yeah I'll get one when the price drops again. I really only want it to play a few games. I want to play Resident Evil and the new one that is coming out Resident Evil Zero and Metroid Prime.

Have you taken a look at the hardware specs. The gamecube owns PS2.
The PS2's main strenght is the sheer number of good titles.

For Multiplayer be sure to get Super Smash Brothers. Mario Sunshine is an incredibly high quality game. Metroid Prime is going to be awesome, as well. And don't forget the reason I've owned every Nintendo platform.... ZELDA!!!!! I could care less about the cartoony graphics. The game is going to friggin' ROCK! It's Zelda, for heaven's sake!

Exactly, what's your point? If Gamecube actually came out with good games(which it will soon! :jump:) then it would have been in the lead at the beginning.

In my opinion, specs mean nothing. The quality of the games means everything. Game X could have the best graphics ever, but it isn't fun to play I could care less. I still play the original Tetris on my Game Boy. I regularly still play games on my Dreamcast. Why? Because the games were great!
GameCube, XBox and PS2 all have great games (in different amounts, of course). It all comes down to what you like and what you're willing to pay for it.
Here is a list of what games (so far and to be released) are great on each system according to me:
XBox:
Halo
Halo 2
Rally Xtreme (or something to that effect)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty: Substance
Gamecube:
Mario Sunshine
Metriod Prime
Super Smash Brothers
ZELDA!!!
PS2:
Gran Turismo 3
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (and soon Substance)
Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner
Shinobi
Devil May Cry
Final Fantasy X (and all subsequent editions)
World Rally Championship Extreme 2

Is Halo 2 available now... cool (it hasn't turned up in NZ yet but we only go the consoles for sale in the last 2 weeks!)
Having used both the PS2 and XBox (sourced ex Melbourne) I'd agree that the software is the distinguishing characteristic. I'd also observe that the X-Box controller is suited to my rather largish hands much better than the Dual Shock 2 which I find has smaller buttons.
This is the same reason I have a Nokia phone - my thumb has trouble with the tiny buttons on the Ericcson's and the Motorolas let alone those CDMA things made by Samsung and Hyundai. How anyone will ever use them with a decent sized thumb is beyond my comprehension!

Halo 2 won't be out for another year in the US.
The difference in size in Xbox vs. PS2 controls is b/c of the hand size difference of American's versus Japanese peoples. Microsoft released a smaller Xbox controller in Japan (can't remember the name, I think it was Type S or something like that). It is much smaller and will be released in the US as well.
I don't like the Xbox's controller at all. It seems big and hulky and the buttons are weird. I like the GameCube and PS2's controllers more. They seem very well designed while the Xbox's controler is some kind of freak mutation of Sega's, Nintendo's and Sony's controllers.
That and I don't like Xbox at all. (Mostly because I hate the parent company).

This is one of the big reasons I aren't rushing out to by an X-Box too......
But what pisses me off most is that my mate at school is taunting me because I am getting a PS2 instead of an XBox- his only argument??? The Graphics are better- he even said Project Gotham Racing was better than GT3 :silly2: :silly2: :silly2:

Project Gotham Racing has to be the most frustrating game I have EVER played! After spending weeks accumulating cars and passing challenges, you do the stupid SF course in the Fierzo, you complete each section cleanly on a lap, accumulate over 600 kudos points and you touch 1 f@#$%^g cone that was knocked over on your first lap and poof they are all gone because they haven't been banked yet.
GRRRRRRRR!!!!!! And it could have been such a bloody good game apart from that... (oh and the easter egg *SPOILER* is to make your name Nosliw - ie Wilson in reverse to unlock the other stages and cars *SPOILER*)
GT3 is better for folks who like tinkering with settings and racing a car rather than doing donuts and handbrake slides... but the PGR are better but only marginally...
Oh and the software for the X-BOX is difficult to come by too!
