I have the P0443 and P0444 codes on my 2.0L '97 Mercury Tracer with 160k miles.
I have a raw fuel smell coming from my car when the tank is full but not when it's half or below. I can even smell the vapors when driving down the road 50+, but only if the windows are down. This leads me to believe the issue is with one of the EVAP systems in my engine compartment and not the charcoal canister which is located in the rear with my fuel tank. Also, I have no pressure release from my fuel tank when I remove my gas cap.
What should I look for? Should I replace the canister purge valve or is the P0443 a wiring issue? Any diagnostic help would be appreciated!

Scratch this. My error code is actually P1443 and P1444. My friend who originally checked the code got them mixed up. I started a new thread for those errors.
